GrowSpace UWB Anchor Deployment Guide

If you have already set up the UWB device and installed the software in the previous steps, now it’s time to learn how to deploy the anchors in a real environment.

Measuring Installation Space Distance (Essential Step)

To improve the accuracy of the UWB RTLS system, precise measurement of the installation space is essential.
In this step, you will measure the indoor space and select the reference anchor (initiator).

Essential Tools | Measurement Tools

Prepare the following tools to ensure precise anchor placement.

ToolDescription
Measuring tape (Laser distance meter recommended)Improves measurement accuracy
Notebook & PenRecord measurements and organize coordinates
Double-sided tapeTemporarily fix the anchor and adjust the position
Masking tapeMark measurement points on floors/walls
Screws & DrillFor final anchor installation
Power cable & Extension cordPrepare in case power is needed

📌 TIP:

Setting the Reference Anchor (Initiator)

The reference anchor serves as the base point of the UWB network and acts as the center for all location calculations.

Reference Anchor Placement Principles

It is generally placed at the (0,0) coordinate, but this is not mandatory.
👉 Consider the space layout, obstacles, and interference factors to determine the optimal location.

Guide to Selecting the Reference Anchor Location

Space TypeRecommended Reference Anchor Location
Large Factories, WarehousesMinimize the impact of columns and walls, ensuring good signal propagation
Indoor Spaces like Offices, HospitalsPlaced along walls or near entrances

If the reference anchor is placed in a different position than (0,0)?
Simply set a new reference coordinate and enter the remaining anchor coordinates relative to it.

Placement of Remaining Anchors

When placing the remaining anchors, consider two methods.

💡 Trilateration Placement Principles

Trilateration requires at least three anchors. It calculates the tag’s position based on the intersection of three distance circles measured from the anchors.

Optimal Anchor Spacing & Height

Recommended Anchor Spacing: 15 ~ 20m

UWB anchors should be placed at a consistent distance to maximize signal accuracy.
Generally, a spacing of 15-20m is recommended, but it should be adjusted according to the installation environment.
