Freegrow Announces Update to Its UWB-Based Indoor Positioning System

Smart space management solution company Freegrow (CEO Kim Young-sik) has announced a major update to its Ultra-Wideband (UWB)-based indoor positioning system, enhancing precision and reliability in location data, the company reported on the 23rd.

This update is expected to significantly increase usability across various industries, as it enables more precise and reliable indoor tracking.

Key Upgrades in the UWB-Based System:

Improved location accuracy (over 50% enhancement compared to the previous version)

Reduced latency for real-time tracking

Enhanced multi-device simultaneous tracking capabilities

Particularly, centimeter-level precision makes this system highly effective for industries such as logistics, manufacturing, healthcare, and security, where asset management and worker safety monitoring are critical.

Integration of UWB with RTLS for Superior Indoor Positioning

Freegrow has combined its existing beacon and geomagnetic-based RTLS (Real-Time Location System) with UWB technology to create a more robust indoor tracking solution. This integration overcomes the limitations of GPS and Wi-Fi-based systems, delivering greater accuracy and faster indoor navigation services.

Successful Industrial Implementations of Freegrow’s UWB System

POSCO 1st-Tier Vendor Selection for Forklift Tracking System

Freegrow’s UWB-based system was successfully delivered to POSCO as a 1st-tier vendor, providing a real-time forklift tracking system. The forklifts are equipped with UWB tags that enable real-time tracking, optimizing logistics flow and improving work efficiency.

Deployment of Workforce Tracking System in Large-Scale Manufacturing Plants

The UWB tracking system was also implemented in large manufacturing plants to monitor worker movements in real time. Workers are given UWB tags that allow real-time tracking of movement paths and automatic detection of entry into designated safety zones. This system helps prevent workplace accidents, reduce inefficient movement patterns, and ultimately contributes to increased productivity and a safer working environment.

Future Expansion and Vision

CEO Kim Young-sik stated, “This update to our UWB-based indoor positioning system sets a new standard for spatial management solutions.” He added, “We plan to expand the application of this technology to smart factories, airports, shopping malls, and more.”

Furthermore, he emphasized Freegrow’s commitment to ongoing research and system upgrades, with the goal of further refining UWB technology and positioning the company as a leader in smart space management solutions.
