RTK-GPS covers the outdoors, UWB covers the indoors. GrowSpace stitches both technologies into a single control view, so no part of your site ever goes untracked.
Standard GPS can't penetrate walls or roofs, so the signal drops the moment an asset moves indoors. UWB, on the other hand, needs anchors installed at close intervals, which makes it inefficient for covering an entire open-air site. On sites that combine outdoor yards with indoor buildings — logistics yards, ports, construction sites — neither technology alone can track the full journey. GrowSpace connects RTK-GPS and UWB on one platform so location data never drops the moment an asset crosses from outdoors to indoors.
GrowSpace applies RTK-GPS to the outdoor sections of a site and its own UWB technology to the indoor sections. The two technologies work on entirely different principles, but they share one goal — centimeter-level accuracy, wherever the asset is.
A fixed base station calculates satellite signal error in real time and sends a correction to the moving rover. That correction brings standard GPS's typical 3–10 m error down to roughly 1–2 cm. It performs best across wide, open outdoor areas with a clear sky view.
Tracks position by measuring the radio wave travel time between indoor anchors and tags. It holds 10–30 cm accuracy even indoors, where GPS satellite signal never reaches, and stays stable on complex sites dense with walls and structures.
Q. Do we really need both RTK-GPS and UWB together?
If your site has both an outdoor and an indoor area, yes. Standard GPS loses signal indoors, and covering an entire large outdoor site with UWB alone would require an excessive number of anchors. The two technologies are a pairing that covers each other's blind spot.
Q. Does the position jump when crossing the indoor–outdoor boundary?
GrowSpace also uses an IMU (inertial measurement unit) to smooth the handoff between RTK-GPS and UWB. The measured fusion positioning accuracy is about 23.05 cm, and tracking stays stable through the boundary zone.
Q. We already have UWB infrastructure — can we just add RTK-GPS?
Yes. Your existing UWB anchor and tag infrastructure stays as is, and we simply add an RTK-GPS base station for the outdoor section. There's no need to rebuild the indoor system.
Q. Can this integrate with our existing control systems (ERP/MES)?
Yes. GrowSpace connects to your existing legacy systems (ERP, MES, WMS) through a REST API, delivering unified indoor–outdoor coordinate data in a single format.
We provide consulting to build an RTK-GPS + UWB fusion positioning system tailored to your site's specific outdoor and indoor layout.
