Seoul, Newswire – FREEGROW (CEO Kim Young-sik) has officially launched ‘Grow Maps’, an advanced indoor navigation app. It provides real-time route guidance within large and complex facilities.
Grow Maps: Solving Indoor Navigation
Grow Maps offers a seamless indoor navigation experience. Users can find stores, access facility information, engage with a community, and receive exclusive offers—all within a single app. With the growing number of large commercial complexes, the need for accurate indoor navigation has increased. However, traditional GPS-based navigation systems do not work indoors due to technical limitations. Recognizing this gap, FREEGROW introduced the beta version of its indoor navigation app, ‘EGG Map,’ in October 2022. The company gathered user feedback and continuously improved the product. It has now officially launched Grow Maps in April with an enhanced user experience and expanded features.
How Grow Maps Works
Grow Maps enables real-time indoor navigation using a proprietary algorithm based on magnetic field data, ensuring precise positioning without requiring additional hardware installations. It leverages various smartphone sensors, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, along with magnetic field and radio wave data. This lets Grow Maps construct accurate indoor maps, making indoor navigation more intuitive and efficient.
The app provides detailed navigation for all facilities within large complexes, including retail stores, amenities, emergency exits, and parking lots. Users can explore categorized store listings, pop-up events, and promotional information at a glance. Additionally, Grow Maps offers personalized recommendations, such as discount coupons, special deals, and event notifications, based on users’ locations. The app also includes an anonymous community feature. This lets visitors share real-time insights and discussions with others inside the same facility.
Currently, Grow Maps is available at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul, with plans to expand to major commercial shopping centers nationwide.
Kim Young-sik, CEO of FREEGROW, stated, “Through a strategic expansion plan, we aim to introduce Grow Maps across major shopping complexes in Korea.” He added, “We will offer users a seamless and convenient indoor navigation experience, and we will explore collaborations with commercial facility operators to enhance location-based data analytics services.”
