Turning space into data: Ultra-Precise UWB Technology

Centimeter-level accuracy with powerful security. Experience the invisible innovation behind smart factories and logistics automation.

๐Ÿ’ก What is UWB?

UWB (Ultra Wideband) is a wireless communication technology that uses a broad frequency band of 3.1โ€“10.6 GHz. It enables far more precise centimeter-level distance measurement than conventional Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and its resistance to radio interference makes it a core technology for RTLS (Real-Time Location System) in complex industrial environments.

How is centimeter-level measurement possible?

UWB positioning is broadly divided into TDoA and TWR methods. GrowSpace has fully adopted TWR (Two-Way Ranging) technology for its outstanding installation flexibility and precision.

TDoA Time Difference of Arrival

A method that tracks location by calculating the 'time difference' in signal arrival. Because the tag only needs to transmit a signal, it offers low power consumption and the ability to track thousands of tags simultaneously, making it ideal for large-scale logistics environments. However, it requires building highly dense and precise wireless/wired synchronization equipment between anchors.

Key Highlights

โœ” Dramatically advantageous for simultaneous tracking of large numbers of people and major assets
โœ” Transmit-only operating structure delivers long battery life for the tag housing

GrowSpace Tech

TWR Two-Way Ranging (ToF)

A method that precisely determines the round-trip time (ToF, Time of Flight) of signals exchanged between devices โ€” the technology GrowSpace actively applies at deployment sites. It requires no separate wired synchronization line design or installation, shortening deployment cost and time, and boasts top-tier stability even in complex metal environments with severe signal reflection.

Key Highlights

โœ” No wired synchronization cabling, increasing installation flexibility and convenience
โœ” Bidirectional direct communication supports exchange of status and emergency data

Wondering which method fits your site best?

The optimal design approach varies significantly depending on the site's geometry, the proportion of metal in your assets, and the available ceiling height for cabling. GrowSpace's wireless spatial-positioning specialist engineers will help you with a free consultation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions from engineers

We clearly answer the questions most often raised by on-site lead engineers about adopting GrowSpace's high-precision UWB real-time wireless positioning technology.

Q. Does it work well even in factories with many obstacles?

Yes. Because UWB has a wide frequency bandwidth, it offers excellent diffraction (the ability to bend around obstacles) and penetration. Even in complex field environments full of steel structures and machinery, it maintains a far more stable connection than Wi-Fi or BLE, and it filters out signal distortion and stray waves caused by multipath for precise results.

Q. Can it integrate with existing systems (ERP/MES)?

Yes. The GrowSpace solution fully provides REST API and MQTT protocols, weaving data together very smoothly with a client's existing legacy systems (ERP, MES, WMS). It delivers not only raw coordinate data but also pre-analyzed event data such as danger-zone intrusions (via Webhooks, etc.).

Q. How long does the tag battery last?

It is proportional to the real-time update interval. For a standard asset tag with location data updated continuously at one-second intervals, it lasts roughly 3 to 6 months; with our dedicated power-saving intelligent algorithm that emits packets only when motion is detected, it can run for more than a year without draining power.

Q. Can it be used outdoors?

Yes, it can. GrowSpace's outdoor-dedicated wireless anchors are equipped with an IP67-rated waterproof/dustproof housing to withstand incoming rain, snow, and the like outdoors. They guarantee excellent radius communication quality over 100 m without attenuation, even in outdoor yards holding construction machinery.

Q. Isn't installation difficult?

The GrowSpace UWB hardware anchor lineup comes with built-in PoE (Power over Ethernet). By eliminating cumbersome adapter power wiring and operating over a single LAN line, it dramatically reduces installation labor costs. We also fully provide, free of charge, a dedicated wireless calibration master-ware toolset to correct post-installation error down to the centimeter level.
