Freegrow Successfully Completes RFID-Based Entry & Crowd Management PoC

Contents

Smart space management solutions company Freegrow (CEO Kim Young-sik) announced on the 23rd that it successfully completed a Proof of Concept (PoC) test for its RFID-based entry and crowd management technology at the “Korea Baby Fair & Early Childhood Education Expo”, hosted by Messe Esang.

Successful Deployment of RFID-Based Entry and Visitor Tracking

During the PoC test, Freegrow implemented an RFID-enabled entry ticket system, which automatically detected visitor entry and exit, while recording timestamps for each instance.

Additionally, the system collected booth-specific visitor data, enabling exhibitors to accurately measure their event performance.

Through this trial, Freegrow demonstrated the ability to collect and analyze real-time indoor crowd movement data, providing valuable insights for exhibition space optimization and event management improvements.

Expanding RFID Applications Across Industries

CEO Kim Young-sik stated, “RFID-based smart space management solutions represent an innovative approach to maximizing indoor space efficiency.

This successful PoC validates the technology’s potential not only for event management but also for broader applications such as:*

Inventory and workforce tracking in smart factories

Real-time wait time monitoring and reservation systems in theme parks

Crowd flow optimization in large-scale commercial and public spaces

“We will continue expanding RFID-based smart space solutions across various industries, leading the innovation in smart space management,” he added.

RFID Technology’s Growing Role in Smart Space Management

RFID technology is increasingly being adopted across industries due to its high level of automation and data precision.

• In retail and logistics, RFID is widely used for real-time inventory tracking and product traceability.

• In healthcare, it enhances patient and equipment tracking, as well as pharmaceutical inventory management.

• In smart cities and transportation, RFID is applied in public transit fare systems, parking management, and security access control.

Given its broad applicability and growth potential, RFID is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of smart spaces, Freegrow emphasized.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does RFID-based entry and crowd management actually work? Attendees carry an RFID-tagged badge or wristband, and readers positioned at entry points and key checkpoints log each tap in real time, giving organizers a live count of attendance and flow through different zones without manual headcounts.

Is this only useful for large-scale events? It scales down well too — the same entry-and-crowd-tracking approach applies to conferences, festivals, and single-venue exhibitions, not just large multi-day events.
