Custom Exhibition Kiosks: Building Software for a 60-Booth Public Expo

Contents

When an expo floor has more than 60 booths, visitors run into the same problem: where do I even start? This is exactly the kind of situation exhibition kiosk software is built to solve.

Walking around with a paper floor plan takes too much time to check every booth. Skipping the ones you’re not interested in isn’t easy either.

A digital floor plan alone doesn’t solve this.
As the number of booths grows, what visitors need isn’t “what’s where” — it’s “what matters to me.”

The large public-interest expo GrowSpace recently built for started from the same problem: 60+ booths, a two-day event, and visitors with widely different genders, age groups, and interests.

How we built the exhibition kiosk software

01

Six kiosks

We installed six kiosks on-site and handled everything from rental setup to on-site operation and pickup after the event.

02

Interest input

We designed a short survey covering gender, age group, and interests. Visitors could select up to three areas of interest.

03

Personalized route

Based on the interests entered, the system recommends booths to visit and a walking route, along with a QR code.

We designed dedicated software for this event. Rather than a plain floor plan, it takes in each visitor’s interests and recommends a matching booth route.

It didn’t stop there. When visitors reached a recommended booth, an O/X quiz was waiting for them at select booths. Answering correctly earned a small reward — a device that turns guidance into participation.

How this differs from off-the-shelf products

Showing an exhibition map and recommending what to see are two different things.

For this project, we connected everything into a single flow: entering interests → personalized route recommendation → booth visit → QR participation → reward.

From the survey questions to the recommendation logic and the reward flow, this exhibition kiosk software was designed specifically for this event, down to the QR code reward flow.

Where exhibition kiosk software fits best

This approach fits best for events with many booths and a visitor base with widely different interests — academic conferences, industry expos, and public-sector events where visitor interests are clearly segmented.

When we’re involved from the planning stage, one team handles everything end to end — the floor plan, the recommendation logic, and kiosk operations. That’s different from a vendor who installs the hardware and walks away.

FAQ

Can we just rent the kiosks?

Yes. But if you need recommendation logic or interactive content, designing the software alongside the hardware works better for visitor dwell time and engagement.

Can we request this the day before the event?

Building the map, survey, and reward logic from scratch takes time. We recommend reaching out at least a few weeks in advance.

For your next event

As the number of booths grows, a floor plan alone isn’t enough. Interest-based recommendations and participatory elements are the next step.
